A new startup creation trend called carve-out

In April 2024, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry announced the "Guidance for Entrepreneur-led Carve-Out Practices," and in the same month, NEDO announced the "Creation of Deep Tech Startups through Carve-outs that Utilize Innovative Technologies Owned by Business Companies, etc." Public recruitment has started for the "Promotion Promotion Project". In this session, we will explain the background and examples of why the new startup creation method known as carve-out is attracting attention.

・After experiencing venture investment in high-tech fields such as IT and medical care at Daiwa SMBC Capital, he led the market introduction of new services such as payment projects and new power projects at Showa Shell Sekiyu. Since 2017, he has been in charge of venture investment business at the University of Tokyo IPC and founded 1stRound. After that, he launched the AOI Fund.
